Here’s how we build a great website together…

When we work with you we are joining your team with the goal of creating a site that you feel represents you and your business in an authentic way. Taking the step to an on-line presence can be overwhelming so we make it as simple as possible for you. You’ll be guided through a smooth, stress-free process that completes on time and on budget. Our three phase process is broken down as: discover, create, launch.

This initial stage of development is where we get to know your business and you get a better understanding of the web development process. In our first meeting you will be asked a lot of questions so we can get a clear picture of your goals and what you might want to communicate. In short, it’s our priority to “get” you. This will be the key to creating a site that is right for you and attracts the right customer.

The Creative and Content Marketing Tool

The Creative and Content Marketing Tool is a document that is created after our initial meeting. It covers all aspects of your project, and is used to collect information about your business and formulate plans. With this tool brand, target audience, and marketing opportunities can be clearly defined and identified. The Creative and Content Marketing Tool is also vital in determining design direction, copy and messaging, brainstorming keywords, planning navigation, and discussing social media plans in connection to your site.

What will your site look like? What will the visuals make the audience feel? This ‘look and feel’ will be designed and expressed through images, a site header, logo, icons, font selection, illustration or photography. All of these visual elements leave the audience with a certain understanding of your brand.

A website will be successful because of it’s content. Messaging will be developed around single or multiple statements that communicate what you or your business are about. Visitors to your site will need to find what they are looking for quickly and will need to get an impression of who you are in less than a few minutes.

Developing content for the web includes identifying and planning for keywords (the words the people you want to reach type into search engines like Google to find you) and using them for SEO (Search Engine Optimization: preparing your site in the most optimal way so search engines can find your content). Image Swim implements standard SEO practices on every website.

Once your content and design are taking form, website execution begins. Your site will be built using a ‘unique to you’ customizable WordPress template that will be easy for you to update. Image Swim can teach you how to use the WordPress content management system (CMS) and we can also teach you basic SEO and keyword development to use when writing content. More on SEO here.

If you prefer not to be hands-on, we can make changes and upload new content for you after your site is launched. We offer quarterly site maintenance (additional fees apply) to make technical updates, review your content and formatting, and see if any improvements can be made to SEO.

WordPress Development

Clients will need to purchase a URL and secure web hosting. We can recommend reliable hosting and, if needed, advise or instruct you through this process. You will need to supply us with user names and passwords.

WordPress will be installed on the host’s server and site development will begin: formatting and customizing your theme; set up of pages, projects, blogs, menu items, widgets; uploading content and optimizing and uploading design elements; installation of plug-ins for added functionality including an SEO plug-in; set-up of contact or other forms, backup system, site and image optimizers, spam filters, analytics, etc, etc, etc.

More on SEO–What is SEO and why is it important?

Search Engine Optimization is the process of developing your site in the most optimal way so that search engines like Google can find you and hopefully, list your site as high as possible on it’s Search Engine Ranking Page (SERP).

Keywords are words or phrases your audience will use in a search to find you. Google (or other search engines) uses a series of secret algorithms to find your site. Google is looking for the best content that fit the searchers needs.

There are a number of things that need to be done to a site on a technical level to improve SEO. Image Swim will make sure all of the basic SEO requirements are met and will install a plug-in on your site called WordPress SEO by Yoast. Yoast guides and evaluates content uploaded to your site so you can better rank in search engines. It’s a great plug-in because it actually teaches you how to write SEO friendly content the more you use it.

The rules of SEO change all the time and we keep up as best as possible. If you need more in-depth SEO we can help you identify a provider.

We look forward to working with you!
